Volunteers with Point Hope Ghana
Volunteers from all over the world come to work with Point Hope Ghana. They work hard all week in our different projects and programs, but also experience the opportunity to explore many of the various Regions (Ghana is composed of 10 Regions) on the weekends. Sometimes volunteers will travel to different projects Point Hope has in different regions and this provides an even better opportunity for them to also see and experience the different climates, cultures, flora and fauna, tourist attractions, and just the overall beauty of this West African country.
Axim Beach Resort, main office, in Western Region. A favorite destination on the way back from working in Krisan Refugee Settlement, the cost is higher than a student hostel, but the amenities and the beach are spectacular.
Zack, Sammy, and Kristi touring the Elmina slave castle in the Central Region. This, and the Cape Coast slave castle, are the two major tourists destinations to hear and see the history of the slave trade between Africans and Europeans on the Gold Coast.
Anna came from Oregon to work in the schools with children.
Delilah comes to Ghana on a regular basis, where she teaches sustainable, organic farming methods.
John and Sarah came from the East Coast to volunteer in the Point Hope Nutrition program.
Nicole, from Washington State, Tasneem, from Kentucky, and Stella from Ghana, all working together to process children at the Nutrition Outreach project.
Paula, from Tennessee, spent a few months with Point Hope Ghana working with children with special needs.
