Dr. Bob Farmer, MD
Dr. Bob Farmer, MD, is a 1991 graduate of the University of Illinois and 1995 graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He is a Board-Certified Family Practice physician in Belleville and Springfield, Illinois, with over 22 years of experience.
A family practitioner is a doctor who specializes in caring for people of all ages, at all stages of life. Rather than focusing on the treatment of one disease or patient population, family practitioners are often the doctors that people see for their everyday ailments. Dr. Farmer excels in his profession, as he says, “I graduated from the SIU School of Medicine, and I give them great credit in training me to focus on the whole patient. I try to view patients as individual persons and not as a disease or a number on a chart.” He received the Patients’ Choice Award, a recognition that reflects the difference a physician has made in the lives of his patient, and also been awarded Compassionate Doctor Recognition multiple times, a certification granted to physicians who treat their patients with the utmost kindness. Many of Dr. Farmer’s family and friends have been afflicted by cancer and he considers himself lucky to consider a lot of his patients as friends.
Bob and his wife, Christina are very active in their community, as are their three children Austin, Alexis, and Ashleigh. A man of many talents, Bob has written several songs as well as a book, Lasso The Sunshine, which focused on life’s positive aspects and is a mixture of autobiographical, biographical, philosophical and spiritual thoughts that encourage others and provide a strategy to seek out the positive sides of any given situation. “I think a positive outlook is imperative to achieving overall good health. Hopefully in some way this book reflects what I’ve learned in my training and my practice and in some way those words on a page may help somebody. The Man upstairs has certainly blessed me and put a lot of sunshine in my life. Hopefully my book will help others lasso the sunshine as well!”
