Programs At Home
Point Hope is forming “Points of Hope” across America. Partnering with foster care efforts across the United States, we are working to identify local organizations/persons that are making an impact while working with foster kids in their own communities. Nationwide organizations are excellent, but as large entities have methods and means for attracting funding and volunteers. Grassroots organizations have fewer resources, but are just as dedicated to the success of foster children; these will be the heart and soul of the “Points of Hope”.
Delilah often has people contact her asking what they can do to help Point Hope or to make a difference in their world. Obviously, donations are a huge part of what makes Point Hope a viable non-profit. Sometimes, however, persons want to do something more; they want to give of themselves; their time and their talents. Establishing “Points of Hope” across the nation will give them the chance to find local opportunities to serve and to give back to their communities. We want to encourage mentoring, taking quality time to show these kids that there are other options, different opportunities and interests beyond the narrow world that they have been exposed to; to broaden their focus and worldview; to make a difference in the lives of foster children, young people who are quite often forgotten voices; often quite simply forgotten, period.
Point Hope has already identified organizations with whom to partner, although we hope to grow this list to include multiple organizations throughout the 50 states! If you know of a “Point of Hope” in your community, please contact Point Hope.
